Tips For Corporate Headshots and Business Headshots

Grooming

People that work in the business world are chained to a desk all day long and don’t give the proper attention to grooming.  Make sure your eye brows are plucked, nose hairs trimmed, teeth whitened, hair is cut and combed.

If possible do some cardio and drink lots of water days before your shoot. This will make your skin glow. Hiking is another great way to get exercise and get a little sun so you don’t look like you’ve been chained to a desk with only florescent lighting. =)

Wardrobe

When you know you are going to be getting your new company headshots done use it as a time to improve your over all image. Check your suit and see if it is out dated, it still fits or if it is the image you want to portray yourself as. A picture speaks a thousand words. It is definitely worth having a suit that properly fits you and that is not out dated.

For photoshoot purposes the suit should be a solid. The ties should be classic and not too distracting. Please make sure that the shirts don’t have wrinkles and are fitted.  Details are important for quality photos. So look at your Corporate Headshot photoshoot as the perfect time to step up your image. Who knows, it might lead to a raise.

  1. Research the company and its brand image: Knowing the company’s mission, values, and target audience can help you understand the type of headshot that would be most appropriate.

  2. Choose the right clothing: Dress professionally and in a way that aligns with the company’s brand image. Avoid wearing bold patterns or bright colors, stick to solid neutrals.

  3. Get a haircut and groom yourself: Make sure your hair is styled neatly and your beard or mustache is well-groomed.

  4. Practice good posture: Stand up straight, pull your shoulders back and keep your chin parallel to the floor.

  5. Use minimal makeup: Keep makeup simple and natural-looking for both men and women. Avoid shiny or glittery makeup.

  6. Match company’s brand image with your clothing choice.  Share selfies in outfits with the photographer and the rest of your team prior to the shoot.  Therefore adjustments may be made prior to the shoot.

  7. Get excercise and good diet for several days before your shoot.  You want to feel good!

  8. Smile naturally: Practice a natural smile, not a forced or fake one, and maintain good eye contact with the camera.

  9. Be punctual: Make sure you arrive on time for your photo shoot, so you can be relaxed and prepared.

  10. Be relaxed.  Don’t be anxious.  The less you stress the better it’s gonna be.
