Thank you for booking your photo shoot with Headshots LA.  I have put together a quick reference guide to help you prepare for your photo shoot.   This checklist is a must read.  Directions, gate code are at the bottom of this page.

Email Me This Info –

1 –  Send a photo of you wearing the outfit you plan on being photographing in.  Share this with myself and your Team Leader.  Every office should have someone to oversee the photograph process.  This will help to make sure everyone’s photos are consistent and that the process runs smoothly.

3 –Send me Address and Parking Info – If I’m travling to your office please send me the address and very detailed parking info.  If there is security let me know so I can leave early.  My truck is 6’4 therefore please let me know if your parking garage is below that so I can be prepared to find parking elsewhere.

 

PICK YOUR BACKGROUND

• Pick 1 background for every look you purchased
• If it appears the backdrop you picked is outdoors make sure your session is booked to start between 9am and 4pm

List of Tips To Prepare
◦ Muted colors
◦ Grays, Blacks, Earth Tones (New trend I like better thank black is dark greens, blues, browns and grey)
◦ Girls if you have super dark hair skip black and go for dark grey or dark color as your new black
◦ Form fitting clothing that doesn’t wrinkle
◦ Layering is always a great idea to build depth
◦Try to keep your clothing modern.  Pay attention to the cuts of the shirts and the materials.  I like shirts that look modern but don’t distract.◦ Try to put your vibe into the styling of this shot but not so much as it takes attention from you.
◦ Make sure clothing is not see through. 
◦ Spaghetti Straps (unless you cover with hair)
◦ No Busy patterns
◦ Not Overly stylish
◦ Out dated styles
◦ Avoid white (It is fine under a coat.  White is bright and distracting
◦ Low cut shirts in general.  They create too much negative space that distracts
◦ No see through clothing please.  Check before you come
◦ No distracting Jewelry
◦ No logos
◦ No patterns (Solid colors are easier to correct in Photoshop)
◦ Modern cuts, don’t be dated from the start.  Layering is good.
◦ Colorful shirts that compliment your eyes, skin and hair.
◦ Stay away from colors that are too Colorful, or too bright
◦ Avoid Baggy Clothin

Please make sure your clothing fit well and do not create lots of wrinkles.

• What to bring–  
  • • Guys: Definitely bring chapstick, stuff to do your hair and whatever else you need to look your best.
    • You do not need to worry about bringing pants or shoes to headshot sessions.
  • Girls: If you hired hair and make-up, then make sure you send them a photo beforehand and discuss what you want them to create for you.  Please let me know if you are bringing a stylist or if you are hiring one of mine. If you are doing it yourself, bring everything you need to create your looks.  Most importantly is powder to reduce shine and hairspray to reduce fly aways.  *Girls bring a black and a white bra.  Please make sure clothing is not see through.

• Makeup and Hair – 
  • Girls your make-up and hair should be recreate-able by you. 
  • Makeup should look natural and not distracting. 
  • Lip color should be your natural lip color and matte.  No Gloss
  • Your base should be even.  Make sure your neck matches your face.
  • If shooting outside it might be good to put your hair up to avoid wind
  • Hair should be how you plan to wear it when you go to castings. 
  • Hair should not hide your features eg eyebrows, cheekbones and jawline
  • You should look like your headshot when you go to castings. 
  • Set your hair with hairspray to avoid fly aways.
  • Keep the inside line of hair clean from fly aways
  • No Hair on shoulder

• Get Rest–
  • Now that you are prepared for the shoot; hit the gym, drink plenty of water, and get some rest.  If you feel sick or not well, please let me know so we can reschedule.  No one takes good photos when they don’t feel well.  Also make sure you take care of your lips and skin for at least a week before a shoot.

  • Find Headshots LA on the gate and I’ll buzz you in.
  • There are two gates.  One is in the alley and the other is on Flower St beside the train.
  • The studio is on the ground floor, past the mailboxes the last unit on the left

• Parking-
  • The best parking is at 12th and Hope on the corner.  (1200 S Hope St.  LA CA 90015) It is usually $10 cash but it can vary.

    There are meters around the neighborhood and may other parking lot options.  There is Valet right in front of my alley entrance but it is $25.  It is between Flower Street and Hope Street on 11th Street.

  • The best parking is at 12th and Flower in the lot you see in the photo below.  (1200 S Hope St.  LA CA 90015) The building you see with the graffiti is the building  Walk in the alley on the right side of the building.  The gate to the studio building is near the end of the alley on the left.  There is also an entrance on the flower street side near the train.  Pay the machine in the photo below.  It will ask for your license plate number and that you put your ticket in your window.
