Commercial Headshots
What is a commercial headshot anyway? I’ve looked for a good definition online numerous times and have never found a clear definition I like. To me a commercial headshot is when an actor or model has a genuine smile and has clothing that targets a positive fun image. The image could be generic such as a plain polo or t-shirt. On the other hand commercial headshots can be more targeted such as an earthy outdoorsman type of vibe or surfer vibe at the beach. You want to show casting directors’ that you are comfortable in your skin and you have the friendly personality that makes people attracted to their brand.
Quotes of the Day
A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.
– Stanley Kubrick
All I Need to Make a Comedy is a Park, a Policeman and a Pretty Girl.

Headshot Tip of the Day – The “Squinch”
The squinch is a method to stop people from going wide-eyed when in front of the camera. It’s a small squint, mostly trying to just bring up the lower lid a little rather than the full Clint Eastwood thousand yard stare.
The squinch is a mix between squint and pinch (and because smize was already taken), and counteracts people who tend to open their eyes immensely when getting their photo taken. Unfortunately, if you’re already a squinter it probably won’t help.
The mind is everything. What you think you become.Buddha
