1.  The most important thing I can tell to people is to be prepared.  Have all your personal grooming done, be well rested and have your clothes planned in advance.  Headshots are not easy.  They take planning.  

2.  Refreshing your eyes.  The eyes are everything in a portrait or headshot.  You need to refresh your eyes continuously.  This keeps you engaged and refreshed.  Staring at the camera is the worst possible thing you can do.  Just try to relax and be natural.  Let your eyes move to and from the camera as often as possible.  When you focus on the camera let your expression be a reaction to the camera.
